#30DaysWild – highlights from 2019

Here are my highlights from #30DaysWild 2019. Moving house, while working full time and joining in with 30 Days Wild wasn’t easy, but it was very worth it!

One of the best things I have done all month is putting up the bird feeder in my new home. It didn’t take long for the birds to find it! I now have regular visits from Blue Tits, Great Tits, Chaffinch, Goldfinch, Robins, Blackbirds, Sparrows. I also have Collared Doves and Wood Pigeons hovering up the dropped crumbs. Winding down from a day at work, I now find myself sitting with my cuppa and watching my new feathered friends!

#30DaysWild day 2 – my commute to work!

My usual commute to work is my 2nd 30 Days Wild. It’s a 8.5 mile cycle through gorgeous countryside.

The crisp green hedges are marked by grand oaks providing shelter for squirrels, rabbits, pheasants and partridges. There are plenty of perches for buzzards and kestrels to survey their surroundings.

It’s a peaceful ride but not a quiet one, as the air was full of bird song – skylark, yellowhammer and chiffchaff were all singing their little hearts out.

I even saw two hares running in the distance across a farmer’s field.

Not a bad start to the day, not bad at all!

A beautiful Brown Hare

After a couple of sodden days of rain, it was glorious to see the sun yesterday. A gorgeous day to cycle home. What was even more special was that I managed to spot a beautiful brown hare in a farmer’s field. This is the closet I’ve ever seen a hare so I was thrilled! Worth all that pedaling!
