My Photograph from September

This month’s photograph was taken on the last day of the month! In the gorgeous autumn light I spotted this lovely Common Darter dragonfly basking in the warm sun. It posed perfectly for me for ages and I treasured every second!

My New Neighbourhood: Part 3

I found my new local patch. A stunning little SSSI just down the road from my new home.
My first visit there was quite by accident, it was the first place I explored! It was gorgeous, purple willowherb and creamy-white meadowsweet. I strolled the boardwalk admiring this little gem of a find, excited at everything I saw.

My second visit was a few days later, this time it was at golden hour. My goodness was the lighting wonderful! It made the place look totally anew!

A week or so later I visited again, the flowers are fading but the insect life has come out in force. The place is alive with dragonflies, squabbling Speckled Wood and various hungry hoverflies.

This summer has been quite a busy one.
A new home, new experiences and new adventures!

My New Neighbourhood: Part 2

One beautiful sunny day I decided to explore my direct local area. Investigate footpaths, local lanes, and wheat fields. What was meant to be a little wander did end up being a very long walk! It was worth it, I got to see and photograph some wonderful wildlife.

My New Neighbourhood: Part 1

I’ve had a rather an exciting summer, moving to a new home 65 miles across the country! I now live in the Market Bosworth area and it’s a lovely place to live.
I have hedgehogs visiting my front garden, at least 5 different individual hogs come to munch on the bowls of mealworms that I leave out for them. I’m guessing they come from the beautiful allotments just down the road from me.

Local AllotmentsI’ve also got colony of sparrows and a flock of starlings visiting the bird feeders in my front garden. It’s wonderful to watch, but I do end up refilling the feeders every day!
In a hunt to find a top up bird seeds for those hungry birds, I found a lovely garden centre. In the warm sun, I balanced eating an ice cream with photographing these lovely butterflies!

The most random of moments happened a few weeks ago. When I opened the door to put out the hedgehog food, a large buzzing beastie flew over my head. Turned out to be a Large Elephant Hawk-moth. A most welcome and colourful house guest!

My Photograph from August

My photograph for August is a few days late, but I am pleased to say that I now have internet at home.
I took this photograph while on my first walk exploring of my new local area. A beautiful sunny day, a long walk and lots of wildlife!
