#30DaysWild – Day 27 – Exploring my friend’s beautiful garden!

I went to visit my friend today. Before we sat down for our cuppa and a catch up, I went on an exploration of her beautiful garden. She has left the bottom part of her garden to grow wild, but even the planted and managed part of her garden is full of wildlife. All the gorgeous colourful flowers are ideal for bees and butterflies. A great home for our precious pollinators.

#30DaysWild – Day 12 – Indoor safari

After 4 days of rain, today I went on an indoor safari! Exploring my new home, unsurprisingly, I didn’t find too much. I did find a couple of very pretty moths and a lovely spider!

I promise I shall encourage them back outside once the weather subsides.

Butterflies of last summer

I stepped out today into spring’s sun and headed straight to my local patch.

Enjoying the peace of the outdoors and revelling in all the newly emerged wildlife, I was able to contemplate the approaching sunny seasons. The flowers, birds and bugs. Just like every year, I am going to enjoy this summer!

I was lucky enough to grab a photo of a female Orange Tip. A species that has alluded me in the past. It was then I remembered I had so many photos of butterflies from last year, none of which I had shared. So here, in celebration of last summer and in anticipation of the summer to come, are some photos of butterflies I took in 2018.

#30DaysWild days 22, 23, 24 and 25

Day 22- Some unexpected wildlife

As I was leaving work, I was beginning to think I wasn’t going to have a wild moment, a Red Kite flew overhead. Not something seen there until about 2 months ago. Exciting to see!

Then when I got home, I came across this beauty waiting for me on my front door!

Day 23 – Ox eye daisy

In May I planted an Ox eye daisy plant, today it finally flowered! I took a photo because I clearly wasn’t the only one enjoying the new bloom.

Day 24 – Burt

While out and about at work today, one of the very tame resident Robins came to say hello! I call them all Burt – after Burt Ward. If you’re really lucky, they sometimes come and feed from your hand!

Day 25 – An unusual view of a moth

Today I had the chance to admire a very pretty moth. It had landed on a window, so I was able to not only see the top of the moth but also the underside of it. I think those eyes are amazing!

Day 4 #30DaysWild

One of my favourite jobs at work was my first duty of today, an invertebrate survey in the Nature Reserve! The place is so beautiful and teeming with life! Everywhere I looked there was something to see!

Invert survey or a bug hunt, looking for those little gorgeous creatures is always rewarding!
