#30DaysWild – Day 26 – Nesting House Martins

Today I enjoyed watching the House Martins that nest in my village. Some were building their nests, while others I saw flying to-and-fro!

#30DaysWild – Day 17 – Swifts

UK Swift Awareness Week started yesterday, a week dedicated to these amazing summer visitors that are rapidly declining in numbers. I had noticed their absence this year, having only spotted 2 in the past month, flying high above my village.

I spent a large part of my day on a hunt for Swifts. I saw lots of House Martins, some Swallows too, I even saw a Hobby from my car window. But not a single Swift. I came home feeling rather sad at the fact I had not spotted my bounty.

Needing milk for my consolation cuppa, I headed out to the shop. It was getting late, but to my utter delight, I spotted a single Swift in amongst House Martins. All displaying their incredible aerobatic flying skills!

Day 5 #30DaysWild

Stopping at Market Bosworth, I paused to enjoy the little town square. To my delight I saw the Jackdaws searching for scraps of food from between the cobbles, I watched the House Martins and Swifts soar over head and I listened to a Goldfinch song echo off the surrounding buildings.
